Weather conditions wreaked havoc on Wisconsin strawberries in 2012

Poor weather conditions were blamed for a 22.5 percent drop in strawberry production in Wisconsin last year from 2011 levels. The late spring freeze that followed the early spring warm-up and the heat and drought of the summer led to state farmers harvesting just 610 of 720 acres planted, according to a report this week by the National Agricultural Statistics Service.
