Eight men charged with cashing forged checks, but police say head scammers still at-large

Eight homeless men who allegedly cashed forged checks at local credit unions over three days in August were charged Tuesday with forgery. But Madison police said that the kingpins behind the operation, who picked out the men at places where homeless men hang out, dressed them, gave them the fake checks and took most of the proceeds from them, remain at large.
