Study calls for new hotel with up to 500 rooms in Downtown Madison

Madison must build a new hotel with 400 to 500 rooms — the largest in the city — plus "substantial" meeting space to support Monona Terrace and the visitor and convention industry, a new study says. The hotel is needed to keep the convention center competitive and attract business lost due to a shortage of rooms nearby, the study by C.H. Johnson Consulting of Chicago says.
