Security guards punched trying to stop shoplifter

Two security guards at a Hilldale Shopping Center store were punched multiple times by a suspected shoplifter who finally was restrained when two other guards arrived to hold him for police. David Vickers, 34, of Madison, was tentatively charged with two counts of battery and retail theft following his arrest at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday outside of Macy's at the shopping center, Madison Police said in a news release.
