Merrimac ferry closed for the season

That ferry ride across the Wisconsin River at midnight on New Year's Eve won't happen this year. The Merrimac ferry has shut down for the season and won't reopen until spring, according to a traffic advisory from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The ferry is the "bridge" between the Columbia County side of Wisconsin 113 and the Sauk County side of the highway, running between Merrimac and Okee. Full Story: Madison.com
