Man accused of kidnapping and savagely beating wife faces multiple charges

A 20-year-old husband facing divorce hit his wife so hard he had to put ice on his hand to keep down the swelling, according to a complaint filed Wednesday in Dane County Circuit Court. Andres J. Uscanga was charged with kidnapping, domestic abuse, battery, disarming a police officer, and additional charges relating to the Dec. 29 beating of 18-year-old Frankie Brandon at a Southwest Side apartment. After his arrest three days later, according to the complaint, he went out of control in the back seat of a Madison police car, kicking apart window screens, begging to be shot and managing to wrap a seat belt around his neck.
