$1 million bail set for man charged in death of half-brother

Bail of $1 million was set Wednesday for Jeffrey Vogelsberg, back in Madison to face a first-degree murder charge for the death of his half-brother last summer. Vogelsberg, 28, was arrested on Nov. 5 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Tacoma, Wash., where his wife, who is in the Army, was stationed. After trying to fight extradition, he was returned to Madison and booked into the Dane County Jail on Friday night. At a brief court appearance Wednesday, Assistant Public Defender Patrick Schilling said he and Vogelsberg agreed with prosecutors to the $1 million bail. A preliminary hearing will be held Jan. 10.
